YesSs!!!! An awesome sight to behold! The moon will completely cover the sun… and it can be seen from Salem, Oregon to Charleston, South Carolina.
Observers outside this path will still see a partial solar eclipse where the moon covers part of the sun’s disk.
Heyyyy…. the last day an #eclipse was ~THIS~ big of a deal… with excited crowds and all…was in 1918!!!!
-and- The last time a TOTAL ECLIPSE was seen… was in back 1979! And it’s not EXPECTED to happen again… until 2024
People have been planning hikes up into the mountains of North Carolina to see this…
In fact… in some Places across North America… folks have been staking out spots on the beach to check this out. In other areas……there are reports of people expected to pack out stadiums to watch.

You see… the Earth’s atmosphere creates the orangish color ☄️to the moon during an eclipse. The atmosphere acts like a “filtered lens.”
It bends “red sunlight” into our planet’s shadow…and scatters out blue light. Hey… It’s the same reason why sunrises and sunsets appear reddish…. #Whoa! talking about “colorful” details!!!
So there ya go!!! Try to play it safe… when trying to catch a peak at this show… the experts say looking directly at the sun ☀️ during this 2 and a half hour situation… can be harmful to the eyes… even if you’re wearing regular sunglasses…

Homemade filters or ordinary sunglasses, (even very dark ones), are not safe for looking directly at the sun…they transmit thousands of times too much sunlight.
